David Bolton, 67, died peacefully at home Wednesday, April 25, 2012 with his family and best friend Mark at his side.
A Memorial to Celebrate David's Life will be held at 4:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 15th at Community Church, 2650 Table Mesa Dr., Boulder, CO.
Born in Oceanside, California, David grew up in the Los Angeles foothills area. David was very close with his grandparents who taught him patience and the value of a job well done. David's step-dad Marty fostered David's lifelong interest in cars. His Mom gave him the gift of kindness. After graduation from Crescenta Valley High School, David was drafted into the Army in 1966 and served as a motor pool sergeant in Vietnam. Even then he had a knack for making the best of things, taking in a stray dog. Returning to California, David attended college and worked for Busch Gardens prior to moving to Colorado in 1972. Living in Nederland, Summit County, Berthoud and Boulder, he developed many lifelong friendships. He began driving for Boulder Ready Mix in 1979 until his retirement in 2008, loving the challenges of his work.
David and Cathy married in 1981 and enjoyed many wonderful years together camping, taking adventurous car trips and raising their two children in Boulder. David was incredibly proud of Laura and Wade and marveled that he could be so fortunate as to be their father. He loved his family, his friends, his dog Luke, gardening, old cars and the Broncos (when they won). David will be remembered for his appreciation of the simple things in life: watching his dog fish, planting his garden and seeing the fruits of his labor grow. His family and friends are honored to have spent time with a remarkably kind man.
He is survived by his wife Cathy Bolton, two children; Wade Bolton and Laura Kemeny, son in law Daniel Kemeny, mother Morilla Martin, sister Denise Martin and brothers Craig Martin and Lee Bolton. His father Henry Bolton, step-mom Naomi Bolton, step-dad Clarence Martin and brother Scot Martin preceeded him in death.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Hospice Care of Boulder & Broomfield Counties, 2594 Trailridge Dr. East, Lafayette, CO 80026
